Two recent "happenings" come to mind, which for me, pretty much sums up what Michael is about.
The first happened after he was first incarcerated.  He phoned me and during the conversation mentioned (once again) that he was cold.  This puzzled me because I knew that he had recently received extra socks with his commissary order.  I asked him about this.  He told me that he had given his extras to the guy next since he didn't have any.

The second occurred this past Valentine's Day.  My daughter-in-law called to tell me that when she arrived at the office that morning there were roses, Hershey kisses, and a card on her desk.  Michael had made arrangements (through family friends) for this to be done.

I could write pages of "Michael tales" just like these.  Is he perfect?  No!  But neither am I…Or you!  But he is our Michael&emdash;son, brother, husband, father, friend.  And I can't begin to tell you what our family has gone through&emdash;watching this gentle, silly soul die a little each day…knowing that no matter what happens he will never be the same.

The only thing I can ask is what I have been asking all along.  Do not judge until you have looked at the full picture&emdash;walk with Michael, Robert, Maurice, and Forrest.  Ask questions&emdash;seek answers.  Then decide.  Give them a chance.  Would you want less for your loved one?
